This studio took students through a sequence from case studies to formal studies and to formulating one’s architectural interpretations of a local site. In an analytical approach, case studies focused on how design intentions and concepts are formulated specific architectural mediums. Formal studies reduced architecture to volumes, geometric relationships, and transformational operations. These abstract interpretations were further investigated by reconfiguring geometric volumes and manipulating interior light conditions. The sequence culminated in designing a small lodge on a local Texas farm with the intention of articulating a unique architectural condition and its tribute to the land.
